Dr Gregory Rolan is currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the Centre for Organisational and Social Informatics at Monash University. Following a 30-year career in IT, Dr Rolan returned to study, obtaining a PhD in recordkeeping informatics, investigating participatory recordkeeping systems. His research comprises the design-science study of systems interoperability; conceptual modelling in recordkeeping informatics; and participatory recordkeeping systems design and implementation. More recently, he has begun investigating the application of data-science techniques to recordkeeping informatics.
Dr Rolan has published widely including Archival Science, the Records Management Journal, and Archives and Manuscripts. He has submitted recommendations to a number of Australian Governmental inquiries relating to rights, records, and information more broadly, and has appeared as an expert witness. Dr Rolan been the recipient of a number of writing awards as well as a Monash University Vice-Chancellor’s Commendation for Thesis Excellence for his Doctoral work.
